In grad school I learned that the best news beat is the business beat. Nobody doesn’t feel strongly about money, their own or others’.

Since then I’ve covered every kind of business from oil & gas to meetings and expositions. Throw in telecommunications, real estate, personal finance, and all types of manufacturing.

I’m a factory geek. I love watching real things being made in three dimensions in real time. Perhaps that’s because what I do for a living can’t be held in your hand.

Most recently, I fell in love with the protein industry, both animal proteins and their alternatives — not only with the process, with its gleaming machinery and expert handiwork, but with the people. This is an industry that is dedicated to the benefit of humanity, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
